Artist Review: Tebra
Tebra was a fantastic 2019 discovery.
If you like chill music with strong ethnic influence, this Serbian artist’s music is for you. Listen to Sutton (my fave) and you’ll know what I am talking about:
I posted yesterday about Valeron. Milojko Jaric’s music is on the same line and they even collaborate:
Tebra’s music is perfect for background and focus. You will find him on my Chill and Indian and Eastern Chill playlists.
Artist Review: Valeron
Since I discovered Valeron on Vanilla Radio, it’s been a constant presence in some of my chill playlists.
Valeron’s music is soothing, perfect for background and focus, and his Mediterranean vibe brings the Greeks islands to your mind. Or office.
His use of percussion and ambience elements is refined and I could definitely listen to it all day. Fortunately, his work is extensive and allows several hours of listening.
You can also find him in my Chill playlist.
Artist Review: Mr. DJ Monj
Another incredible artist I discovered on Vanilla Radio is Mr. DJ Monj. His first track I ever heard was Uninvited, a cover version of Alanis Morisette’s song. In my opinion, his version is way better the original.
I love his choices of timbres for the bass parts and the pumping and smooth quality of the bass.
From exploring his songs, you will notice how competent he is in finding great vocal talent. Julia Turano is the vocalist on Uninvited and a few other songs.
Other than Uninvited, there are other songs to check out, some of my favourites being Special Dream and Without Breaking.
You can find Mr. DJ Monj’s songs in my playlists.
Artist Review: Austin Leeds
I discovered Austin Leeds in 2018 through the programming of Vanilla Radio. The track was Faith, a partnership between Austin and K.O., a great Philadelphia singer with an impressive resume. I fell in love with the song and I started using it for everything: in the car, while snowboarding, working out, working etc.
I then started checking his extensive collection of songs and found a lot of other cool songs, my favourites being the partnerships with singers like K.O., Julia Ross and Sabrina Ali. A few examples are Best Life, Temperamental, Gone, Time, Replay Rewind.
Austin Leeds is an excellent producer, having collaborated with big names like Paul Van Dyk and Avicii, and he surrounds himself with great talent. His mixing, like his songs, is smooth and pleasant to listen in any sound system.
Faded is the most recent single on that list and is worth a listen.
You can find many of these in my playlists.
Artist Review: Mister Jam
My first contact with Mister Jam was in the 90s when I bought the album New Love Dimension. I still regret parting ways with that one, because it cannot be currently found on the streaming/online platforms.
Around 5 years ago, I decided to take a look at the most recent MJ work and I found several tracks that are at the top portions of my playlists today.
Mister Jam is a great songwriter and producer, and he’s constantly finding great talent for the vocals, either in Brazil (his base) or in other parts of the world.
My EDM playlist has a few of them. Enjoy.
